The Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa

The Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa have a main tomb that was built in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD when Egypt and a large part of the Roman Empire were under the rule of the Roman emperors Domitian and Trajan. Qaitbay Citadel

The Qaitbay Citadel is an important defensive structure on the Mediterranean shore. Qaytbay built the citadel when he saw the towers and fortifications of Alexandria in AH 882 / AD 1477, so he wanted to protect most ports on the northern Egyptian coast. The Sultan did this because he understood the increasing Ottoman naval power which endangered many states that could come under Ottoman control.

Pompey’s Pillar

Pompey’s Pillar dates back to the Roman period and is part of the old ruins of a large Roman complex that was in the city ages ago. This column a red granite column of about 27 meters in length is a tourist site in Alexandria that stands on the hill of Bab Sidra, and the ancient Kom El-Shoqafa plateau.
